Shanghai, the city I call my second home. Ever since I can remember, I have visited the city every year (except during corona of course). It is the place where I was greeted warmly by family and a place where I didn’t feel like the odd one out.
There’s also a second reason why this place holds a special place in my heart. It is the place where I discovered my love for photography. I loved taking my analogue camera on the streets and capturing whatever caught my eye. Since 2016, I have been keeping this tradition alive. During my trips to China, I have also visited a few other cities in the country. This body of work has been made primarily in Shanghai, but some photos have been made in Guilin, Hong Kong, Beijing and Chengdu.
I don’t know yet what I’ll do with this project. Let me know if you would like to see prints or a book from it one day or so. For now, here are some snippets:
